Functional Skills ENGLISH

The functional skills English qualification enables learners to demonstrate their ability to read, write, speak, and listen, and apply these skills in everyday situations.

The qualification allows learners to improve their verbal communication skills in a range of contexts familiar to them. They will also acquire and apply an understanding of everyday words and their use, and read and write a variety of texts with clarity and effectiveness.

 

Equality and inclusivity are central to the qualification, with learners offered different levels of qualification dependent upon their ability and also behaviour. Qualifications are awarded fairly to every individual learner, and pupils requiring additional support are allocated a range of resources to meet their individual needs. Lessons are carefully structured to promote learning at all levels.
