Our BTEC Sport course is a very popular qualification. It links academic studies with practical sports sessions and enables learners to reach their potential in both areas. Each lesson is prepared specifically to meet the different needs of our learners. Our academic lessons are enjoyable and inclusive; we challenge each learner to engage in learning by working collaboratively and also independently.
Each practical activity is performed off site. We have a programme that allows our learners to channel any aggression and transform it into positive energy when participating in and practical sessions. Our practical sessions can change dependent upon the requirements of the course. However, we make joint decisions with the learners about what activities they would like to try. This gives the learners responsibility and ownership of the course they are participating in.
Our sports course is a tool for our learners to excel also. Previous learners our staff have taught have excelled in different sport areas and are pursuing different careers now within the sports industry. A few examples of the progressions are; Personal training, professional and semi professional football and football coaching, MMA coaching and competing.
Participating inExercise is also considered vital for maintaining mental health, and it can reduce stress. Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins—chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers—and also improve the ability to sleep, which in turn reduces stress.
